Kitten, Just Days Old, Shows Incredible Spirit After Being Found in Street, Capturing Hearts of Everyone
A kitten, just days old, showed incredible spirit after being found in the street, capturing the hearts of everyone, including cats.
Hurkle Durkle, a tiny tabby, had a rough start to life until a Good Samaritan found her.
Though she lost her mother while crossing the street, she held on until help arrived. “The tiniest souls can also be the bravest,” Tails High, an animal rescue, shared. “This little miracle embodies the hope we aim to bestow upon more kittens and cats in need.”
Once she was brought to neonatal foster care, they noticed something different about her.

“Hurkle Durkle is a Scottish term meaning to lounge about. Our sweet little princess earned her name as she absolutely loves to burrow into a soft blanket and snooze.”
Her foster mom noticed that her body twitched involuntarily while she was awake. “And she slowly circles to the right when she tries to move around.”

Through it all, Hurkle showed remarkable spirit, happily snuggling with her foster mom whenever she could.
To ensure the kitten received the best care, they consulted a neurologist to rule out injuries. The community came together to support her through the rescue’s Spring2ACTion program. “Hurkle is growing, thriving, and vibing.”
Though just pint-sized, Hurkle had survived the unimaginable dangers of the outdoors.
“This little miracle girl has won the hearts of everyone she meets, so much so that her foster mom was a little worried she wouldn’t get her back from the multiple vet teams fawning over her.”

Following a thorough examination, the neurologist was encouraged by the progress Hurkle had already made. “Observation with her foster was our best course of action for now.”
With a loving foster mom catering to her every whim, Hurkle has made incredible strides in less than two weeks. She never feels alone with a large plushie keeping her company in her incubator.
After each feeding, she gets plenty of cuddle time with her foster mom, soaking up all the love.
During a vet visit, they discovered her walking issue wasn’t a bone fracture but likely related to tendons or nerves. “They attempted to fashion a tiny splint for her leg, but it didn’t last long.”
Hurkle is determined to move around on her weaker leg until it strengthens. Meanwhile, her foster mom gives her regular physical therapy and gentle stretches to straighten her leg and improve her mobility.
The little tabby has put on weight and gained a round belly thanks to her foster mom’s devoted care. She also gets visits from other cats in the house, one of whom has proudly taken on the role of big sister.
Hurkle has won the heart of a tortie named Clara Bow, who once stayed in the same incubator when she was rescued as a tiny neonate.
Now, all grown up, Clara offered her little protege meows of encouragement and sisterly love as Hurkle continues her journey to a full recovery. Hurkle, clearly smitten, melts into every cuddle with her feline friend.

“While Hurkle Durkle had a devastating beginning, her future is bright.”
She is truly a little miracle—flourishing under her foster mom’s loving care, wrapped in the affection of her feline sister, and supported by a whole community every step of the way.
